new photo blog

i started this blog in 2006, and it's shifted along with my interests through the years. it's been witness to a lot of learning for me...

still, i feel that i need a home for my photography -- so from now on, i'll be posting my pictures on the journal on my reworked website. if you like my photos, you might decide to follow me there!

my first post is here -- check it out!

as for this blog, i'm not sure what will happen. i don't think i'm willing to let it go, and certainly i'll keep it as an archive, but i need some time to figure it out.

for those of you that pop in from time to time, thanks for the visits and encouragement.

aller retour

i had to interrupt my vacation for a day -- i took the mytilini, an overnight ferry back to athens, ran some errands during the day, left my car behind, and took the same boat back the following night.

it was an exhausting round trip.

this is how the ship looks like pulling into chios harbor -- i don't know if this picture conveys how massive these things are.

i've placed this on flickr's map.

  1. If this is the same ferry, I can say an objectively say it doesn't convey the size.

In Canada we have many ferries, some larger than the Mytilini. Some of those other Greek ferries are unlike anything in Canada. The Aeolos Kenteris is the largest high-speed ferry I've ever seen, and the 510-car Theofilos reminds me of the old ocean liners.

  2. i may be wrong, but i suspect that the mytilini is about the same size as the theofilos.
